Battlefield 3 - Feature pic

Battlefield 3 has a lot going for it, and on consoles, compares only really to the other games in its long series – my own experience is with Battlefield 1943 (still cracking value for money on Xbox Live Arcade) and Bad Company 2 plus its brilliant Vietnam DLC. I haven’t personally played the epic 64 man battles of the PC titles, and I’m aware that I’m missing out on much of what this series is all about. But, as far as consoles go, this is the best large scale, vehicle heavy, all out warfare available, and stands up against the other heavyweights of the multiplayer FPS scene proudly.

Driver San Francisco - Main

Possessing your body just long enough to shout “TARTS!” in a library, today’s sale unites all four main games platforms. This is not the first time Driver SF has appeared in Cheap Happens, so I’ll quote myself, as I cannot hope to ever come close to the quality of writing that myself possesses:

Reviewed by Andrew here, Driver SF is a free roaming driving game with a very interesting mechanic. He had this to say:

“At the touch of a button Tanner [the guy you play] can initiate an out of body experience. You can then float around the city, all in dreamy slow motion, entering other drivers’ bodies at will.”

Skyrim cinemagraph: Hall of Valor

“Dear Interwebs,

Team TbW are having a spiffing time here in Skyrim, so much so, we appear to have written, err, very little. Sorry about that.

By way of apology please accept these moving postcards of our trip that we managed to take in between being hassled by locals to do odd-jobs, bothered by the prevalent dragon pest problem and being stalked by this weird idiot-woman called Lydia, who persistently follows us around whilst staring blankly at us.

Saints Row 3 - Poster

Is it time to weep if you missed the chance to pre-order Saints Row the Third? Normally a day 1 release is the worst time to buy a game if you want good value for money. However some shops are still selling it at great value.

Mini Ninjas - Green Forest

Appearing as if from nowhere. Today’s sale is extremely good value for the PC gamers, and pretty good for you console owners too.

This cutesy hack ‘n slash game was well received when it came out in 2009. It includes the usual third person beat ‘em up game-play with added Ninjary elements. Such as sneaking up on enemies through cover, wall running and magic.

steam-warning

I really like Steam. As a service it is one of the best. But occasionally they make mistakes. Perhaps it’s not Steam, but rather the publishers who use it. Either way I will always try to warn you of any foul-play (or genuine mistakes).

[Edit; I too have made a mistake. So bracketed parts below for corrections.]

The current Midweek Madness sale is not what it seems. Continue reading

Praise-Genki

It’s been a bit quiet with Team TbW knee-deep in Skyrim. So here’s some news from last week. It’s ok, just scrape the fluff off and it’ll be fine.

I really don’t know what to say about this. I’m not even totally sure I didn’t fall asleep at my desk and dream the last 15 minutes. Either way. I don’t feel quite right in my noggin-box.
