Driver San Francisco - Main

Possessing your body just long enough to shout “TARTS!” in a library, today’s sale unites all four main games platforms. This is not the first time Driver SF has appeared in Cheap Happens, so I’ll quote myself, as I cannot hope to ever come close to the quality of writing that myself possesses:

Reviewed by Andrew here, Driver SF is a free roaming driving game with a very interesting mechanic. He had this to say:

“At the touch of a button Tanner [the guy you play] can initiate an out of body experience. You can then float around the city, all in dreamy slow motion, entering other drivers’ bodies at will.”

Mini Ninjas - Green Forest

Appearing as if from nowhere. Today’s sale is extremely good value for the PC gamers, and pretty good for you console owners too.

This cutesy hack ‘n slash game was well received when it came out in 2009. It includes the usual third person beat ‘em up game-play with added Ninjary elements. Such as sneaking up on enemies through cover, wall running and magic.

steam-warning

I really like Steam. As a service it is one of the best. But occasionally they make mistakes. Perhaps it’s not Steam, but rather the publishers who use it. Either way I will always try to warn you of any foul-play (or genuine mistakes).

[Edit; I too have made a mistake. So bracketed parts below for corrections.]

The current Midweek Madness sale is not what it seems. Continue reading

Space Marine - Ketchup Malfunction

Today’s sale is a Chainsword through your Ork-skinned wallet.

This wonderfully gory splatter-fest (it’s ok if they’re aliens right..?) Space Marine game, takes you through a campaign against Orks and Chaos. It also contains multi-player death-match modes. Apparently there is great visceral glee in combining ranged attacks with melee moves when taking on mobs of bad guys.

As you can probably tell I haven’t had time to play this game yet. I’m personally holding out for a Genestealer version.

Saints Row The Third - Hoverbike - Professor-Genki Dance

Updated 18th December 2011 16:30

Stealing Cars. Pah! That’s soo passé. Today’s sale is skydiving naked whilst beating off goons (pun intended) with a giant ‘toy’.

Yes its the lovably boorish Saints Row (I’m hoping they’ll put that quote on the box). Despite its brief moments of nastiness in the style of late 90s gangster movies and despite (and maybe because of) its crass stereotyping of everyone; I really love Saints Row 2.

For the third game I’m torn between having my avatar look like a Porn-Star Ninja, or Mary Whitehouse. Having the freedom to choose is brilliant. I love the madcap missions, or the insane level of freedom to just have fun. The Third is promising more of the best bits and I can’t wait to get my hands on them (again, pun intended).

Steam Halloween Sale

Suddenly appearing behind you, today’s scary sale has 52 limbs, each holding a game.

The good old Steam holiday sale is back. This Halloween themed one contains many creepy-themed games, but a couple are just thrown in for fun. I’ve also discovered that not all games listed, are the best price. I’ve found better deals elsewhere (some on steam even).

Indie Bundle

Like a springy young puppy, today’s sale comes bounding up to you on four games.

This sale bundle includes:
1. A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda (activates on Desura and Steam)
2. Gemini Rue (activates on Desura)
3. Sanctum (activates on Steam)
4. Nimbus (activates on Desura and Steam)

I personally have only played Sanctum. Which is a brilliant FPS tower-defence game. Made especially fun by including a co-op option. This alone makes the bundle great value.
